The courses can give you the blacksmiths skills, and it is up to the individuals how far, and to what extremes they wish to develop them. I learnt my skills from attending the Blacksmiths Guild courses, first at Cannington and then at Westpoint (the Guild base now) . I can not recommend these course highly enough, for both the skills learned and the small cost involved Lots of students of these courses have gone on to Teach in colleges , run successful businesses and compete and win county shows. John is great ambassador for the craft, willing to share his knowledge with anyone who is enthusiastic for the craft.
